For purposes of the USTA, a tennis “Senior” is a 55+ league. You have to turn 55 in the year you compete to be considered 55+. Super Senior is a 65+ age bracket with the same birth date requirement. Super Seniors can always play down in the Seniors divisions, but a Senior can’t play up. USTA and in-house leagues play on an irregular basis throughout the winter, spring and summer seasons.

Each Sunday morning from 9:00-11:00 during the indoor season, Bob McKinley provides courts for his invitational group. The level of play is very high. Most participants are currently competitive players in the Senior division with an NTRP rating of 4.5, 5.0 players are also welcome to play. The Bass River members, and invited guests who participate in this program, often represent New England at the Nationals.

Players of all levels are welcome. This runs year round. From Labor Day to Memorial Day, we play indoors at Bass River. During the summer, we move to the clay courts of Beverly Golf and Tennis. Players and teams are grouped by skill level and past results. Matches are set up on a weekly basis so it is a pay as you play format. Participants sign-up and have a match tailored just for them.

A match play group for men, designed for our 70+ members. Eligible players sign-up on a weekly basis and get a match handpicked by Neil. High Noon Shoot out happens every Monday from 12:00-1:30, September thru May and then moves outside to Beverly Golf and Tennis for the summer season.

During the indoor season, we also run a number of specialty events. Ladies Senior and Super Senior Round Robins, Senior Mixed Doubles tournaments, and a host of other Tennis Socials. Please visit our website frequently for event dates or check out the bulletin board by the front desk.
