Director of Tennis
Rares hails from Transylvania, Romania. An academic and athletic star, Rares was ranked 6th in Romania and graduated first in his class at Romania’s top University, Bades Bolyai in Transylvania. Rares holds a degree in Physical Education and Sports Management. As Tennis Director he oversees all aspects of the tennis operation. Rares has been a top 5 ranked player in New England, Men’s Open division, and continues to be a highly competitive player. He is a regular in the Boston Pro League.
KEVIN COLOZZI, USPTA Certified

A Winchester native, Kevin played first singles for his Winchester High and University of Rhode Island teams. He captained both of those teams in his senior seasons. Kevin ran the Winchester Swim and Tennis Club for four seasons and currently is the Head Pro at the Ferncroft Country Club. Kevin is a certified USPTA teaching professional. He teaches all areas of men’s, woman’s and junior programming and supervises our 10 & under QuickStart program.
MIKE DOLPH, USPTA Certified
Junior Program Coordinator
Mike grew up in Stratford, CT before heading to the North Shore for college. He attended Endicott College’s School of Sport Science. Mike played at the top of the singles and doubles lineup for the gulls, earning all conference honors all four years that he was there. He was also the recipient of Endicott’s Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year award. Mike gained experience in youth sport development at a non-profit in Boston called Tenacity, where he implemented Tennis/Fitness classes in Boston Public Schools to many different ages. Mike also works at the Corinthian Yacht Club in Marblehead in the summers teaching private and group lessons.
A Swampscott High School graduate, Haven was a four time Northeastern Conference tennis MVP. She graduated with a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from Merrimack College. She was featured in Sports Illustrated as a "Face in the Crowd". Haven was the Director of Tennis in the Town of Swampscott and the Town of Peabody. She also worked at Cedardale Health and Fitness Club in Haverhill, Merrimack College assistant tennis coach and Wentworth by the Sea Country Club. She is USPTA certified and is certified in Cardio Tennis.
A lifelong Beverly resident, Devin teaches in the Beverly school system and is coach of the Beverly High School Boys Team. Devin has worked here at the Golf and Tennis Club for many years. Devin is USPTA certified instructor and has a Masters Degree in education.
Larry is a USPTA certified Teaching Professional. Originally from West Hartford, CT, he played high school varsity tennis at Conard High where he was ranked #6 in CT. Larry, a competitive junior tournament player, attended the University of CT where he played on the men’s team. He ran his home town recreation department in West Hartford. Larry has taught at the BSC at Lynnfield and the Winchester Swim & Tennis Club. He is the Head Pro summers at Meadowbrook Country Club in Reading. Larry was ranked #1 in New England for both Men’s & Mixed Doubles in the USTA and was named USTA New England Captain of the Year for leading his team to Nationals.
Sharon has been playing competitive tennis her entire life. She has competed in high level tournaments, teams, and in New England and national championships. Sharon was ranked in the top 10 in New England as a junior player and played on three mixed doubles teams that have competed at the national level. Sharon received a degree in music education before choosing tennis as a profession. She worked at Cedardale Health and Fitness as a desk manager and as a staff instructor.
Gregg has 20+ years teaching all levels & ages. During his high school career, Gregg played 1st singles for both Wakefield and Reading High. He played division 1 tennis for the University of New Hampshire where he was the 1st singles and 1st doubles player during his junior and senior years. Gregg got his degree in Psychology and Criminology before moving to New York City to receive his Master’s Degree in Forensic Psychology. Choosing a career in Tennis, Gregg is USTPA certified and currently heads the Reading Recreation Department Tennis Program. Gregg also supervises the Bass River 12 & under QuickStart program.
Caroline is currently a student at Merrimack College where she is pursuing a degree in Business Administration. She graduated from Masconomet High School and came through the Bass River Junior Program. Caroline works in our Adult Beginner clinics and in all our youth programs. Caroline is available to teach private and small group lessons. She is sitting for her strength and conditioning certificate and has an outstanding background in sports nutrition. Caroline is a great addition to an already outstanding teaching staff.
Josh is originally from Beverly, Mass where he played number 1 singles at Beverly High School. He is a product of the junior program at Bass River having taken lessons and clinics here for many years. Josh graduated from College of Charleston, earning a bachelor’s degree in Communications. Josh has ten years of teaching under his belt. He is an avid musician and plays drums in a number of area bands and teaches drumming on the side. A high level tennis player, with outstanding skills in foundational stroke work, he is a terrific addition to our staff.
